Rosie Calvert, Emma Durkan and Nicola Beazley make up the band Speldosa – a contemporary folk trio formed in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Playing hammer dulcimer, clarsach, fiddles and vocals, the trio perform a wide variety of traditional, contemporary and self-penned material from around the world. Already New Roots finalists, the trio became finalists at the Danny Kyle open stage at Celtic Connections this year, and were ‘highly recommended’ for their performance. Speldosa have performed and been well recieved at Sidmouth Folk Week, Whitby Folk Week, St. Alban’s Folk Festival, Bromyard Folk Festival and the debut Wardle Folk Festival. Their self-titled debut E.P. is available to buy from them at gigs or on their website.
